In 2016, Danny and I started a tradition of gifting each other 4 items on Christmas: something to wear, something to read, something you want, and something you need.

We got the idea from some cheesy Facebook post or a radio station pep-talk, but it worked well so we stuck to it. At that point, we were celebrating our 3rd Christmas as Team Tilmes, but that didn’t mean we couldn’t start a new tradition. Whether you’ve been married for two years or twenty: you can try a new tradition! There’s nothing in the rule books saying that you can’t.

Examples from years past:

Something to wear: A Bengals sweatshirt for Danny, Outdoor Voices leggings for me

Something to read (books, obviously): Last year I gave Danny New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp and he gave me The Gospel Comes with a House Key.

Something you want (wish list or fun gift): A weighted blanket for Danny, painting supplies for me

Something you need (practical gift): A lawn edger for Danny, yoga mat for me
